Division 3 Round 7 vs Southern Power

Div 3 Match Report Round 7

The Blacktown Magic have vaulted into a share of the lead in the Sydney AFL third-division competition in only their second season.

A lazy first half saw the Magic lead the Southern Power by just two points before coach Dean Connors produced a fiery half-time rev-up on Saturday.

The Magic then produced the sorcery, overpowering the Power 91-31.

Led by a bag of four goals by Jeff Talbot and some hard work in the middle from ruckman Daniel Clifford, the Magic took control.

Matt Gann presented well at full forward all day, and Mark Burger was a rock down back and was best on ground.

The only sour note was a rib injury to club captain Bradley Whale.

Fellow leaders Sydney University had a shock loss to Western Suburbs, and the top-of-the-table clash will be in a fortnight.

Meanwhile, the Magic division-five levelled the scores with five minutes to go before falling 69-52 to the UNSW-Eastern Suburbs Bulldogs.

The Magic will host Penrith Rams at Blacktown International Sportspark this Saturday
