Division 3 Round 6 vs Campbelltown

Div 3 Match Report Round 6

The Blacktown Magic continued their promising start to the season on Saturday with a convincing victory over Campbelltown Blues at Blacktown International Sports Park. The Magic were always in control with Kent Weir and Dean Connors dominating the midfield contest and Andrew Polkinghorne delivering well to the forwards. The first quarter saw Blacktown out to an impressive lead after some slick ball movement and it was clear the Magic had come to play.

After a slow start personally, Ash Moeller turned it on in the second quarter kicking five goals. His movement and strong hands in the forward line gave the midfield and half back line a clear target all day. He continued to dominate the forward 50 in the second half and made the most of some unselfishness from his teammates to go on to kick a club record 16 goals for the day. A remarkable achievement. This haul of goals adds to the 12 he kicked against Western Suburbs.

Throughout the match the Magic refused to allow Campbelltown any momentum and their defenders, led by stand in skipper, Mark Burger only conceded 14 points for the day. The Magic converted well to run out huge victors 207-14.

The Magic played some highly attractive football to dominate their opposition and sent a message to the rest of the competition; they are improving every week and will compete in the finals again this season.
