Division 3 Round 5 vs Norwest Jets

Another weekend of mixed results for the Blacktown Magic. The up and coming club had their third grade side take the spoils against the Norwest Jets, while their Fifth grade came off second best against the Camden Cats.It was a valiant effort from the fifth grade magicians against a strong Camden side.

A goalless third quarter hurt their chances of a comeback, and the game was all but decided with a seven goal fourth quarter from the Cats. Even so, the boys from Blacktown played good hard footy, with notable mentions going to East Coast veteran Greg Driscoll who showed his class and poise in the mid field. Accolades also went to new recruit Alex Robertson, who was hard at the footy and kept his nerve to win contested ball. The game finished with Blacktown bowing out to Camden, with the score card showing 6.4.40 to 15.11.101.

Third grade were able to enjoy a big win over their Richmond based opponents. With a solid performance from the magic’s mid field, scoring opportunities were not hard to come by. A fast paced and agile team made the most of their disposals, capitalising on their opportunities. Club captain Bradley Whale set the tone of the win with a truly inspiring and bone rattling defensive effort, allowing the mid field to maintain possession and have effective disposals.

Strongest efforts came from the half back line and midfield, with notable mentions to Leighton Corr, Kent Weir, Joey Saunders and Joshua Mann. The game finished up with a 60 deficit, Blacktown 15.9.99 defeating Norwest 6.2.38.
