In excess of 500 people attended AFL Sydney’s Night of Nights at Doltone House, Pyrmont. Hosted by television and radio personality, Hamish McLachlan, the night recognised the achievements of individuals, volunteers and clubs who excelled during the 2013 season.

All past Phelan Medal winners were invited along with Life Members, members of the NSW AFL History Committee, Representatives of GWS Giants and sponsors. Special guests included AFL Commissioner Sam Mostyn, NSW Minister for Women Pru Goward, Sydney Swans outgoing Chairman Richard Colless, GWS Giants Chairman Tony Shephard, White Ribbon Chairman Ken Gillespie and CEO Libby Davies. Digital Sports provided the audience with a fantastic presentation which included video and photographic highlights from the 2013 season.

Blacktown Magic featured in the award winners with leading goal kicker Ashley Moeller picking up the award for Division Three Golden Boot and also claiming the Sydney AFL Golden Boot with 110 goals, more than any other competitor across all competitions.

In the Club Championship award, Blacktown Magic finished a very respectable 7th place across all clubs participating in Sydney AFL. A fantastic achievement that illustrated the successes on the park from both the Division Three and Five teams throughout the year. We were also congratulated from Tom Harley, for our achievement on becoming the first club in NSW / ACT to attain Gold Level status in the Quality Club Program.

Next up was the hotly anticipated McFarlane Medal – Division Three Best & Fairest. Unfortunately none of the Magic players came up trumps but special mention goes to Andrew Polkinghorne, Ashley Moeller and Kent Weir who all featured in the top 10 players of the competition voted by the umpires on a weekly basis.

All in all it was a great night to be able to acknowledge the achievements of the Magic players and the committee who have made this year a complete success. For the full summary of the votes Blacktown Magic for Division Three and Five respectively please see below:
